Vernamics: Stretch ‘Em MMA Muscles!

An MMA student, once released back to the wild, is expected to be all of three things: 1)Versatile, 2)Dynamic, and 3)Just plain awesome. So put Nos. 1 and 2 together, you get the equivalent of being plain awesome: “Vernamics“.

Vernamics

After witness the opening of Ctrl+Z, I paid a visit to another exhibit located somewhere in the Metro. This time at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The exhibitors called the event “Vernamics” because it aims to showcase the versatility of 15 featured student-artists all in one dynamic show, featuring the best works that befits the over-all theme.

Longtime ABMMA professors Henry Bolo and Dan Enriquez graced the event as speakers, giving out some helpful advice to those who were at venue during launch night. They each shared their piece, highlighting the ups and downs of their art/design profession but at the same time, pointing out the need to “keep moving on”  and to “put something in the minds and the hearts of people that they will remember all their life“.

There were quite a few stand-outs among the displayed artworks pasted on the walls but I’m most particularly impressed by the one with a video/sound-based portfolio placed right at the entrance. If I were a client, I would gladly snatch the guy who did the voice over demo, as a primary voiceover guys in the lines of promising and veteran local VO’s Jeremiah Junior, Al Torres, Sir Zhan Yu and Neil Pagulayan. If only he can stretch himself to talk like Marcus Bentley, Mikey Goldman, Leon Murray and perhaps even Casey Kasem (medyo tall order na’to), now that’s money I’ll be betting on.

Another artwork that I kinda fancy was a canvas showing a little girl holding balloons hand in hand. Not sure why but after taking a photo of it up close from the bottom up, the painting showed a different side, looking more dynamic in a way.

One reason why I decided to drop a visit was to support a an exhibitor who’s fellow batchmate on his final stretch in school. Glad I wasn’t the only one from our class who was there as they were several others. Plus, it’s a good excuse for me to go and explore Fort Bonifacio alone for the first time.

For those wanting to see what’s inside Vernamics, it’s open today, November 17, at Art Galilea, second floor of Fort Pointe, located at The Fort Strip just a few blocks away from Bonifacio High Street. Today’s the second and last day so please do check it out. You won’t regret it.

PS: I’l die if I learn I won something from their raffle on opening night. My raffle number’s 13 so I hope they didn’t pick mine. Bwehehe!
