No More Saturday Oldies on DWRT-FM Means What?

Same station. New Name.

Same station. New Name.

This is going to be the first time since I started listening to DWRT-FM four years ago that I may not have something to look forward to on the frequency’s Saturday programming. Thus, this is gonna be the first time in four years (since the days of Campus 99.5) that the station won’t be airing a weekend oldies program since the new management slotted such a retrospective programming on Wednesdays to compete against Wave 89.1’s Waveback Wednesdays and RX 93.1’s Monster’s Riot.

Before, I would always look forward to Campus 99.5’s Campus Classic Weekend and 99.5RT’s 24k Weekend (which used to cover an entire weekend before getting reduced to Saturdays not too long ago). From then until recently, I was kept company by the comfort brought by some throwback tunes from the past decades, especially the 1990’s which is my favorite era ever. Now that there’s nothing to look forward to for this coming weekend, my withdrawal symptoms brought the recent rebranding of 99.5RT is now starting to take effect as a sinking feeling.

Without any word yet of any specialty shows lined up for the new 99.5 Play FM’s Saturday programming and how likely that it will be only be a regular playlist heard during most of the week, I may be in for a boring weekend.

Let’s just wait and see.
