GMA Worldwide

GMA Worldwide

So this has been several months in the making and at one point, I thought it’s never going to happen. After spending countless leaves of absence and half-days, I finally got the call last Thursday, 1st August, that I’m officially going to work for GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI) this September.

This is the career bump that I’ve been waiting for since graduating a year ago. Although the plan is to eventually go to where I always wanted to be from the beginning, GMA is a good alternative. It’s worth all the times I have to go back and forth to Kamuning just so I could nail my first set of interviews, pass my HR exam and wowing them with my portfolio which I’ve been working on. I kept mum on the matter althoughI’ve been teasing bits of it over at Facebook and Twitter, I’ve been posting teases because I couldn’t help myself [“BB” as in DZBB-TV].

The good news came exactly 8 months after I landed my first-ever job as a writer for the City Government of Valenzuela’s Public Information Office. Although they asked if I could start work in two weeks time, I asked if they could allow me to finish out the month to finish any ongoing projects I have at the time and formalized my goodbyes to my co-workers.

My 8-month tenure in the public sector have been quite the learning experience for me. I learned that I have to fight for myself in a place where personalities really do collide and misunderstanding persist. Thankfully, many of my officemates have been welcoming and encouraging. I survived the highest and lowest points of my stay in government and I could say that all of it made me a better person and still holding on to what I really am.

There’s always this empty void that I’ve been trying to fill throughout my life, that missing little piece that could truly make me whole. I tell myself that I have to know what I want in life, know what I can do that could make me feel satisfied and ultimately happy.

So what should I expect in GMA? I expect struggles, adjustments and grooves to happen come September, but over-all I’m excited to find out for myself. Although what I would do won’t probably end up being seen on GMA, international syndicated versions of GMA shows distributed by GWI will most likely be given the light of day for those who have Fox Filipino on their cable.
