The Day I Found Out The Truth About Puppets

Noon pa man, fan na ako ng mga shows na puppets. Una sa listahan ko siyenmpre ay ang Sesame Street, tapos Batibot, then Awit Titik Bilang At Iba Pa (ATBP), pati na rin iyung children’s show sa PBS Kids noon na Cailou nung nasa States pa ako. Kaso, akala ko noon na buhay sila. Kahit na alam ko na puppets weren’t real, I had to know paano sila nagagalaw, paano sila nagkakaroon ng buhay. And that was how I found out the bitter truth.

I think I was around 8 or 9 years old then habang si Bernice maycecelebrate ng 6th birthday niya. Nalala ko pa rin noon na medyo tahimik siya, as compared sa ate niya na si Ate Bea (na nasa La Salle ngayon by the way).

Now, there was going to have a puppet show kaya happy ako at nang mga bata na nasa party. Ang theme ng show ay Power Puff Girls (yah, avid viewer ako ng show na iyon kasi wala namang magandang panoorin nung araw ‘no!). Ngayon, some people placed a big black box sa may isang part ng bahay kung saan gaganapin iyung puppet show. Other than it is big and black, may butas siya na parisukat, at ang gilid ay kinokoberan ng isang mahaba black cloth.

Later, naging curious ak on what wa beneath that box ot what ity is insiade. I took a peek and saw na may bukasan siya sa likod. Now, kasama ko ang mga pinsan ko, we went to see what on there. And voila! The Truth!!: Three guys with Powerpuff Puppets worn on their hands! They saw us and told us to get out! Ngeee… Nakakatakot iyon. And that’s how I leanred the truth about puppets.

Although alam ko naman na puppets are handled by real people (especially nung nanonood ako ng Marco dati), it was only that I saw it for myself. Waghh!

INTENSYON: Unang Kabanata, Ang Panimula (Buhay Kolehiyo)

[Writer’s Note: This entry does not mean to inflict any harm to anyone. This is based on true events so anything that you may find may be offensive. If yoy don’t want to continue, stop reading this entry right now]

    “Hi, how’s debate?”
    “Ah, It’s pretty okay”
    “If you say so…”

Kumusta!

Out of curousity…
“Ano ang ginagawa niyo sa Lipon?”
“Well, usually we train ourselves to become good debaters with the help of our veterans”
“Sumasali bako kayo sa mga tourneys?”
“Yeah, actually we do join on such. Every year, year we go to Dagupan for the National Debate Tournament, and we also sent representatives to participate on international debate events as well”
“Wow!
“Not yet, we’re going to have a general assembly and it is up for yo whether you want to attend or not. If you do, automatically you’ll be a full-fledge member”
“Ah ok!
“Not necessarily, we found a way how we will charhe new members”

“Hi neo-debaters, my name is Carol and I’m the president of Lipon. We’re going to have our general assembly on the 3rd Friday of June, 1:00-2:30 PM on Rm…”

“Hi guys, my name is Carol. As you may already know…I’m the president of Lipon ng mga Debatista or simply Lipon. Let me introduce to you our other veterans…”

“Guys, starting either this afternoon or next monday, we’ll formally start debate training. If you want, you can schedule your days of availability. As much as possible, we encourage you to train thrice-to-four weekday. But saturday we’ll be our hardcore training and we highly recommend you to go to CS so we can, as early as now, prep up for the National Debate Tournament this coming October, okay guys?”

Nose-bleed naman ‘to oh.

Reality and Dreams: Be Bench/ The Model Search

Just finished reading Ehm-Ahr’s blog entry about her “paradoxic realities”. It inspired me to wirte an entry about this dream I had yesterday before I was rudely awakend by my dad thinking I was going to school at 8 am (Ordev-B starts at 10:30). It’s going to be short dream so don’t expect me to write anything long like my othe entries.

Okay in my dream, I dreamt I was one of the finalist of Be Bench/ The Model Search, a reality model search which just folded up a week ago on ABS-CBN. I was (in my dream of course), hot with six-pack abs (bleeeghh, still dream to have abs though). I was (in my dream) wearing a Bench/ Body underwear and was walking along the catwalk (or so I dreamt).

The next thing I knew, I was in my bed, wearing my home clothes, covered with a blanket, my cellphone next to me and a noisy radio set on either DWWW 774 AM or DXBB 590 AM greeting me “good morning”.

I still remember that dream, does it mean that I’m going to be a Bench model very soon? Let’s wait to find out!

The CSB Experience: DKDV1

Irregulars are common usually on block sections that are mostly frosh-composed but that’s from my point of view. I’m not really sure If it’s common on upperclass sections too. Cmoe to think of it, every term, students get to choose their skedsadn ended up being in different sections so it’s really kind of mixed up.

For now, let’s focus on frosh sections. Usually the reason why an irregular (sorry if it sounds very discriminating, I don’t know what I can call on non regular blockmates) is in a section that not his is because of he following: 1) It’s either he’s an athlete, 2) he failed a prerequisite subject, 3) he need to make up for remaining units to graduate and, 4) he’s just simply there.

Last term, we had four irregulars in DV1. Two were taking Filip11, one of them also have Philippine History. Both of the we see thrice a week. Both are athletes, one is a basketball playertaking HRIM, the other a swimmer taking MMA. Another one is a CDA major, almost a graduate. She took up Gepsych. Last is a swimmer taking Bibstud, and for sure she’s from DV7 meaning she’s also MMA.

Actually the reason for student athletes to do this kind of set up is for them to become readily available for training. Their schedules are fixed according on when they train that’s why they are so. An incentive which is a good advantage for student athletes is that they don’t have to attend regular PE classes (excellent 100%).

On the case of upperclass peeps taking up subjects from lower years, I can’t really tell.

They’re Rose, Isaiah, Micaela, and Charlotte.

Now for this term, we already have two irregulars in two separate subjects.

One is an Export Management with ID105 (A college junior I presume). He takes Intecom with us thrice a week and since our professor there is the same guy from last term’s Gepsych, I can say that he sort of reminds me of Charlotte since both of them are older than us. Yeah, his name is Von.

Another is a CDA frosh who just came in yesterday for ComSki (Sep. 21 and I don’t care howyou wanna read it, I prefer saying it as “ComSki”okay? Not “comsk-one-dash-ex”). Well, can’t really say but he’s going to be with us for the term for Comski and I’m sure he’ll fit in this wacky section that no other, DV1. I think his name is PJ, if I stand corrected please correct me now. Other than that, maybe he’s a student athlete or something but being CDA, I guess he’s an EFL (English as a First Language).

Back in last term, we didn’t know that Isaiah and Micaela weren’t our regular blockmates, especially that the latter is HRIM. So now we know about this “irregular” thingamajig, it’d be no longer a problem for us not to be surpirsed on such a stiuation like that.

It’s already the start of the term and the whole of DV1 expected that the next three months will be the three months of DV1. So before we reached the DV1’s last day, I guess we should do our best and we’re all in this together.
